Networking for Health

by scott.tate 29. July 2009 03:50

I had the pleasure of attending a Rotary Club meeting as a guest of Liz Roth, a wonderful lady who works for WellServe, a local healthcare management firm.  I also had the pleasure of meeting among others, Barbara Bent, a wonderful woman with energy galore!

The culture within the rotary club weekly breakfast (held at the Cutten Club) was warm and positive to say the least and from the anthem to the gratitude minute and the 'happy bucks' practice (please forgive my poor grip on the jargon).  The meeting led to a tea at a nearby Second Cup and into a discussion of healthy relationships with people, food and with ourselves and the power of the subconscious.

Not only did I leave the morning thankful for the opportunity to have fantastic and honest communication with other intelligent people, I left with a reinforced perspective on my own health and relationships with it.  This is the beauty of networking.  Go in with your doors open, keen to learn from others and you will discover things you might never have had the opportunity to!

The other beauty of networking is that in socially describing your perspectives and practices you are deepening your commitment to these views, values and practices.

It is a simple science and you are in control.  Choose to network to grow yourself first and your business second!

The Power of Communication

by scott.tate 20. July 2009 07:10

I have been continuously lucky in my short life so far to meet and interact with some incredible people.  Last night was one such occasion.

In speaking with Chantalle of (Yoga with Chantalle) about all things from food to family and the impact of culture on our health and explorations therein, I had a few precious 'aha' moments.  This is the power of communication, honest communication.

The biggest moment for me was found in answering Chantalle's question about what I wanted to do for people and what brought me to this point.  It was in letting my most honest reply move from inside me to her ears and senses that I felt the rush of moving forward towards my dreams.

I want to do for people what I am doing for myself.  I am researching, planning and meeting with professionals from the fields of health and wealth promotion and management to create for myself a S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timed) and personally actionable strategy towards building a healthstyle, workstyle and lifestyle to enable me to live my dreams.

I want to help people do the same and provide support for them in the process because more often than not, the members of our team don't have the time to offer support or facilitate communication.  I want to help keep them honest and on track towards building a self-awareness, confidence and passion in the process towards achieving their full potential.  The roadblocks can be clearly labeled or deeply seated but at the end of the day, the mind and body remember how to stay well, I just want to help people find the confidence to choose and empower them with knowledge to choose wisely and the deeper knowledge that they have support.

We all need help.  Just look at the most successful people and organizations on the planet.  They chose to move towards their goals with planned abandon and strategic support.

Trust in the power of communication.  Within yourself and with others, find every opportunity to share and grow with honesty and integrity.  The world is full of support for you, after all, you live in a reality created by other people's dreams!

The Power of the Mind and Body Interaction

by scott.tate 12. July 2009 07:37

To engage the power of the connection between the mind, body, goals, health, body confidence and beyond please consider and examine the following. I encourage you to use your journals and make notes to personalize this information and take the important bits that speak to you.

1) My Lunch:  Even just 2 years ago it would have been a chicken burger on a white bun with cheese, mayo and maybe some lettuce with brown rice if I was lucky and maybe some brocolli or a pepper if I happened to have it around, now:

2) Preparing: I made this lunch in a semi squat position, testing and challenging my posture, range of motion and squating ability as I cut, rinsed, plated and place in the garbage via squats and lunges the various delicious bits of my lunch (A collard green leaf with Dulse, ground flax, avocado, mushroom, sunflower sprouts, garden fresh salad mix, red pepper, garlic and horseradish mustard with some fresh sprouts soaking for tomorrow's salad)

3) Reading into it:  As I ate my lunch I was reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell... 2 years ago I would have been watching something pointless on TV or a movie perhaps.  Instead I was reading about an ingenious experiment by two Sociologists  (Cohen and Nisbett) and their proof that cultural heritage dictated how people would respond to various social situations as stimulated by trigger words and other situations to be tested later based on those words.

4) Being my own Scientist:  As I type I am back in my squat and typing on my laptop, raised up on a ledge for ergonomics and examining the last hours of my life and experiences not because that is what I have always done but rather because I am consciously working to change my culture, belief systems- my very mind.

I was not born eating, moving or thinking this way- it was not my 'culture'.  I have sought it out and worked hard to find people, information and practices towards helping me realize my dreams and aspirations of helping people become their own scientists and attaining my own optimal health in the process.

It all comes down to your 'culture'. However, I mean this in the most minimalist sense.  It is not up to your culture at large but your internal culture as gauged and created by the emotions, thoughts and chemical signals floating around your body and cells much like the ideal cultures needed to grow specific bacteria and increasingly actual human parts for transplant.

You are in control of your emotions, perceptions and realities, for today and for the tomorrow's of your dreams and goals.  You were not born into this reality and internal culture however.  Over the the first 6 years of your existence and even before that, in your mothers body as an egg, she was preparing you for existence by creating her own internal culture to deal as best she could with her external culture.  You have been built at conscious and more fundamentally, at subconscious levels to deal with this new reality of your making.

You are in complete control.

Tap into the feelings around the way you move, eat and think, be your own scientist and seek happiness and satisfaction in your choices.  Seek to find your dreams, goals and choose to stay well.

Smile and feel the rush of awe and excitement in realizing that you are in control.  Take the any feeling of fear in this as soon as it comes up and tap into it, seeking to find new words and descriptions of the situations to spin that concern into excitement.  Find the positive energy around and inside of you and create your internal culture for success, for body confidence.

Love yourself.
Love your potential.
Love the opportunity to set goals that you are excited to work towards every day!

Keeping it Simple

by scott.tate 6. July 2009 12:46

Easier said than done yes, but in The New Biology that we are learning about simple is the only way to do it. Dr. Bruce Lipton summaries the beauty of the new science in one simple phrase- "Life is movement of proteins."

We are in the midst of a paradigm shift in our mass understanding of the world around us, our bodies within it and the dramatically simple interplay between the two. Once complete and imbedded in our educational system like the central dogma of genetic determinism was and is, it will shape the way we exist. However, until that time comes we all need to do our part to grow our own knowledge and take advantage of the beautiful simplicity in knowing that it is not our genes that determine our health, but how our mind and environment allow them to be expressed.

Since life is simply the movement of proteins based on their interaction with signals (energetic, or chemical), we can begin to our knowledge of movement and nutrition to better use. Finding the balance between the stresses caused by both will lead to proteins that move much more functionally and in a more integrated manner towards promoting our continued living, life exists to live!

Bathed in a culture of positive energy and a complimentary balance of stresses our cells, organs and systems will do for us whatever it is we command. We have no idea of the full human potential but we do have at our fingertips a New Science and understanding that when truly believed in with passionate faith will take us to the levels of our dreams.

Learn, grow, discover, seek guidance and support and move forward with confidence that you are in control.

Visualize

by scott.tate 3. July 2009 01:37

The following is taken from the Health Habits section of the Choose to Stay Well Inc. site and ties in with much of my new reading and discovery which you can follow along with in my blogger blog or here and my youtube channel.

"If you can see it and feel it, you can be it.  The power of the mind- through creating thoughts, emotions and actions- is beyond measure.  However, we do know that everything it does has a chemical and energetic bi-product and that these bi-products are the first steps towards creating reality.  With each thought, emotion and action you prime your cells to receive more of the same and all they seek to do is become more efficient at managing that new reality/homeostasis.  In short, Dream.  See and feel all of your dreams as often and tangibly as you can and seek ways to bring them into reality with 100% of your effort.  Today's reality was someone else's dream."

It is my growing belief, rooted in the fascinating field of Quantum Physics and Neurolinguistic Programming, that our environment- individually, locally and globally- has the largest impact on our personal potentials for health, wellness, productivity and longevity.  Within this framework the incredible reality is that we as the individuals have the most power of any of these factors.  We are lucky enough to live in the age of knowledge and opportunity and with that comes an ability to create a self-awareness unmatched for millennia.  We are rediscovering the mystery of the universe and the power of the mind and body and with that unleashing our full potential.

I urge you to take the time each day to stop and truly seek to see and feel your dreams.  Visualize you living, breathing, feeling, smelling and hearing your reality and seek out practices and practitioners that can help motivate and guide you to change the destructive subconscious patterns we have all created and move with total confidence towards your dreams.

 Seeing is believing.
