I met a friend of mine tonight, recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was lastingly intrigued at some ideas that were exchanged. Although in full appreciation for the essential nature of having a routine with regards to movement and nutrition, particularly in the new light of his health circumstances, the word 'routine' was met with shivers and repulsion. I must also admit that my feelings on the word are not too far off.
By some trick of our cultural education the word routine has been mired in the muck of un-fun, un-inspiring diligence and discipline. However, in thinking about my friends circumstances, understanding and reaction, another word came to my mind. Rhythm.
It is in rhythm that life exists. Down to our very energetic, vibrational frequencies and their interactions with the rest of our world and universe we exist with a very personal rhythm. It is when this rhythm is thrown off that we approach illness and injury. It is this natural biological, mental and physical rhythm that we need to seek out with our chosen lives. A daily routine can consist of fast-food for lunch, but a truly personal biological rhythm consists of choices that foster our health to keep in tune and in step with our biological and physical environments and cultures.
Find your rhythm with wise choices and fun steps.
