A day in the health

by scott.tate 20. May 2009 06:42

Is there a better time to go to sleep?

Is there a better way to wake up?

Is there a better time to 'work out'?

Is there a better time to have breakfast?

And so on.

We are always looking for the best bang for our buck and the most efficient ways to boost our energy and maximize our daily potential for productivity and enjoyment of life (I hope).  The simple reality is there will (hopefully) never be a 'best' or 'perfect' anything, but there will always be a better.

Hit the hay at 10:30 PM, your cells are trying to shut off and repair by their natural and universal circadian clock.

Wake up to gradual increases in light and sound, your body is repairing so don't shock it.

Don't workout vigorously, especially if it involves any back bending untilat least 45 minutes after waking.

Drink first, then eat but not until around 11, your body is still on flush and repair mode.

These are ideas that some researchers and practitioners have uncovered as key ways to maximize our body's natural abilities and limitations but it is likely that they will change.  The bottom line is that a day in your life should be considered also as a day in your health.  With this, an understadning should begin to blossom about what practices and habits provide you with a greater health and living each day.  Make changes, try new practices and seek ways to evaluate their impact on your health, wellness, energy, vitality and productivity.  Be your own scientist and find ways, through personal research or guided assistance, to tap into the incredible power in your body and promote a health to allow you to truly make a living and make educated choices towards living at your best today.

My efforts to be my own scientist and to tap into this power of mind and body have brought me to Cheryl Laird's door and together we are offering a one day workshop this Monday, May 25th and a 6 week education course beginning on Thursday or Tuesday June 4th or 9th, designed to begin to give you the tools to do just this.  Scientists have made incredible discoveries and we all have the potential to make daily discoveries of our own towards living the health and wealth we deserve.  Expand your base of knowledge with Cheryl and I and become the intellignet scientist and begin to include the full power of your mind in your efforts to create a health to live your dreams.

Choose to seek not the 'best' but what works better for you.  Choose to empower yourself with knowledge.  Choose to Stay Well.

Acting with Intention

by scott.tate 12. May 2009 00:44

I wasn't sure what this blog would be when I first developed this webpage.  I didn't really understand what it personally meant to have a blog and although I had visions of keeping my network of people well-informed about my perspectives and my research into all things health and wellness I didn't know what it would be apart from that.  It turns out however that there are so many intelligent and well-intentioned people out there researching and writing blogs about healthy living that I ended up using much of my screen timing reading about their research or their perspectives on the current research.  As such I have contributed sporadically at best to this blog, seeking to use it mostly when my fountain pen ran out of ink or one of my many notebooks ran out of pages.

Today however I have come to an understanding of what my public writing can be.  I have a mission and vision of where I believe we can take our health and wealth in this world and I will be using this window into my world to promote the cultural and paradigm shifts that I believe need to happen to shift my vision into reality.

I have been and will continue to work with health and wealth care providers towards standardizing a new interdisciplinary, patient/client-centred model that seeks to empower with knowledge and its effective and personalized communication and application.

My vision is of a Canada, understanding the two-tiered nature of our health care system and realizing that investing in health promotion and prevention is investing in personal and community wealth.  There is no I in wellness or wealth, but there is a WE in both and we need to harness the power of that dynamic.

Choose to build a team around you, a family and circle of care.  Choose to build a WE, a community.  Choose to stay well.
